SmartPhone Photography How To’s, Reviews, And The News…
Welcome to Pocketful Of Memories. I’m Ron Murphy, Editor/Publisher of the site.
If you’re a grandparent who enjoys using your smartphone to capture your family’s special moments, then you should find helpful information here. Especially since we cover both photography and video.
Our focus is on helping grandparents make the most of their smartphones to create and preserve memories that can be shared and added to the family legacy.
Doesn’t matter whether you’re just getting started, been shooting for a while, or you consider yourself a seasoned pro, we cover a variety of experience levels. And a broad range of shot types – from family get togethers to special events and vacation travel.
My wife and I are grandparents ourselves. We’ve been using our smartphone cameras to take family and travel shots for some time. Now, the technology has improved to the point where you can do almost anything with a smartphone camera.
There’s challenge in that though. As smartphones have become more advanced, they’ve also gotten more complicated. To really take advantage of the added features, we need to be more knowledgeable. For example, it used to take a separate telephoto lens to capture distant subjects. Now it’s possible to sit in the back of the auditorium and capture acceptable photos and videos of your grandkid playing the flute up on the distant stage.
But unless you understand how it works and how you should set it, you’ll be less likely to get the pictures or video you wanted.
With technology today, the results you get are never automatic. But the more you do know, they better you’ll do.
I got started with photography in the military, using traditional film cameras. I continued to use advanced cameras as they moved to digital formats. I still do today. But when it comes to capturing family memories, my preference is for the camera I always have with me. My smartphone.
And because I want to make the best memories possible, I’ve studied the tech and the techniques that produce success. I’ve gathered a variety of information and techniques.
Sometime back I realized that the information I was gathering could be helpful to others. I started studying more diligently. Now I’ve organized it to the point where I can share it.
I certainly don’t know everything, no one could. But I’ve managed to put together a range of how-to’s that I think other grandparents will find helpful.
Pocketful Of Memories is here to inform, inspire, and celebrate the art of smartphone memory-making.
